A Letter to AppSumo Customers on the One Year Anniversary of our Launch

Dear Sumo-lings,

Joshua from Billy here. I want to thank you for all your support over the last year. With your help, Billy has grown so much and is now better than ever. We couldn’t have done it without you!

Over the last 12 months we’ve accomplished so much together:

  • Released a brand new iOS and Android app
  • Added in-line calculators
  • Removed “taxes” from invoices display if not used
  • Numerous other usability improvements

Most recently, we added the bank connection upgrade, which was finally released last month after many months of development. We now support thousands of banks worldwide, bringing you more stable and reliable data imports.

Every one of these features was possible because of Sumo-lings like you who shared your feedback. You can see all that we’ve done on our Roadmap when you click “Launched”.

We now have our sights set on other highly requested features, like a PayPal integration, recurring billing, Zapier, and cash-basis accounting. However, each new feature we add to provide extra value for you results in higher costs for our team.

At the one-year anniversary of our AppSumo launch, we would like to ask Sumo-lings for the support that makes this the best community in the world.

Because you believed in us and joined Billy last July, I’m asking for your trust and support again now that we’ve hit our stride and are finally able to deliver regular frequent updates.

These new features don’t just cost thousands of dollars to build, many of them cost money to support, like the $5,000/year license fee from Yodlee for the new banks.

We need to raise $9,000 in order to stay on plan for these features. We would like to get it to you faster, but these things cost money, and without the monthly cash flow from our AppSumo users, our development becomes much slower.

How much do these features cost us to build?

  • Paypal Payments – $1,000
  • Subscription Billing on recurring invoices – $3,000
  • Zapier Integration – $2,000
  • Cash Basis Accounting – $2,000
  • PieSync Integration – $1,000
